The Guest List

By Lucy Foley

Let me tell you—The Guest List hooked me from the very first page.

Lucy Foley transports you to a remote, windswept island off the Irish coast, where a picture-perfect wedding turns dark and twisted. The setting is so vivid and atmospheric that I felt like I was one of the guests, wrapped in a shawl against the chill, watching the storm roll in while secrets bubbled beneath the surface.

What truly stands out is how Foley immerses the reader in the story. You’re not just an observer—you’re part of the celebration, the tension, and ultimately, the unraveling chaos. You can practically hear the clinking glasses, feel the chilly sea breeze, and sense the growing unease as secrets begin to surface.

The alternating perspectives kept me on my toes, and I loved how each character revealed a little more of the puzzle without giving too much away. Foley has a knack for crafting layered characters, each with their own baggage, grudges, and secrets. I found myself suspecting everyone at some point, and just when I thought I’d figured it out—bam, another twist!

If I had to nitpick, I’d say a couple of the twists felt a tad convenient. But honestly, it didn’t matter. The pacing was tight, the tension palpable, and the eerie setting elevated the entire experience.

The Guest List offers a suspenseful, modern take on the classic whodunit, with an atmospheric edge and psychological depth. If you enjoy slow-burning mysteries that keep you guessing until the final page, this one’s for you. Highly recommend curling up with it on a stormy evening for the full effect!
